Rajasthan to take eye revenge against Bangalore

Rajasthan has come a long way from where they had started in the tournament. After losing their first three games, the Royals popping back won six of their next nine games. A victory in this one and they would be almost assured of a place in the semi-finals. For them, the best thing that can happen is they will play on their ground, a place where their record is nearly perfect, having lost only one among all the games they played at Sawai Man Singh Stadium .

The home team batting is also looking for with the two openers Michael Lumb and Naman Ojha search in more than decent touch. back Shane Watson has propelled the team and also the right-hander has looked brilliant on Nick since he has reached Indian shores. Yusuf Pathan is still dangerous and Adam Voges adding depth in the middle order, bowlers Anil Kumble will have to work again for this site unruffle some feathers in the batting order.

Rajasthan have also started to bowl a lot better lately, with captain Shane Warne leads the way. He has been bowling extremely well and seems to have found its golden age again. Add to that the likes of Siddharth Trivedi, Shane Watson and Yusuf Pathan, Rajasthan look good enough to disturb a batting order. The only two things that the local team has to guard against is running and put into service between the wickets. Their commissioning dropping important time in the last match against Mumbai and three run-outs meant that they lost their first match on home ground.

Rajasthan is an ordinary side: Gambhir

Delhi Daredevils skipper Gautam Gambhir, who led his team to an emphatic 67-run win over the Rajasthan Royals, rubbed salt into the Royals' wounds by branding them an "ordinary side", with Yusuf Pathan being their only dangerous player.

At the post-match presentation, Gambhir said, "I think Rajasthan was never a threat. Except for Yusuf Pathan, the other guys were pretty ordinary. We thought Yusuf was the only danger-man and didn't bother too much about anyone else."

Gambhir revealed that in spite of the loss of early wickets - Delhi were 67/4 in the 9th over - he was not unduly worried, since he knew that Delhi had depth in batting and a competitive total was possible.

"Anything above 170 was going to be competitive, and our bowlers showed that today. We've got a lot of depth in batting, and we always knew that one big partnership would put us back on track even after losing 3-4 quick wickets.

Saturation in Cricket harmful: Gilchrist

The issue of cricketing overkill has come into focus yet again with Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist stating that the cricketing calendar is over saturated. He stated that Cricket is reaching a point when there are too many matches and called on the administrators to address and fix this issue immediately.

According to a report on cricinfo, Gilchrist was quoted that the game must not have inconsequential matches. He pointed out that Cricket needed to change with the times and called for the creation of an iconic series for every country on the lines of the Ashes. This would help Test cricket to survive and Twenty20 can be used to attract new people to the game.

He added "I think there's room for all three formats. I believe T20 is a very powerful format to get many new and young viewers. The key, really, is the amount of cricket that is being played. We are close to saturation point and that will be detrimental to game's interest. If we can make it better, people will get the calendar and go wow," he said.

Gilchrist believes that creation of a new breed of wicket keeper batsmen is encouraging and it is even more so because it has not come at the cost of their skills with the gloves. "When people comment on wicketkeeper-batsmen, does it mean they do not rate other wicketkeepers who're out there, for their keeping?"

IPL is not the benchmark to India selection

The IPL must not be considered the yard stick for national team selection, according to former India and current Chennai Super Kings bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad.

In a report on cricinfo, Prasad said, "Domestic cricket still remains the ultimate proving ground for youngsters even though the IPL is on top of everybody's mind at the moment. Young, aspiring cricketers have to prove themselves in the Ranji and Duleep trophies to understand their capabilities, their talent and their ability to withstand pressure," Prasad was quoted in an interview with the Times of India.

Prasad quoted that stardom is more like come and go in the IPL. He observes that the young guns certainly enjoy getting noticed and grabbing the headlines. He stresses, however, that their lives cannot be just on the IPL but more on how to prolong their talent in the larger forms of the game.

At this stage of the tournament, Punjab will have to come up with an extraordinary performance if they don't want to see their campaign in IPL III come to an abrupt end.
